President:

Kate Dowd 

Kate is a fantastic asset to our executive board.  Our former technology chair and vice-president joined our group in Fall of 08 and has been sticking with us since.  Kate is a huge help in accomplishing all the behind-the-scenes work that we do.  She always volunteers to do things and then gets them done right.  The lovely Kate is also passionate about music, writing, walking, and coffee.  If you ever spot her on campus, she most likely is walking somewhere with her iPod headphones in her ears.  Her favorite artist is Josh Groban, but she loves all kinds of music.  In her spare time she likes to write short stories. She will often join Kara in Notebook/Milkshake-crying-into festivities. She loves anything to do with the arts.  We love having Kate in the group, and we hope to see her there for a long time!  We love you, Kate!

Campus Vice President:

Matt Blodgett 

Our wonderful Events Chair is a proud, Jewish liberal, and we’re lucky to have him! Matt is majoring in history here at UNO. Matt describes himself as an Anglophile, a lover of all things English, and remains a strict vegetarian. He is an active member in our club as well as the Democratic Party as a whole. Overall Matt is a happy, open-minded person who just likes to have good time, and the occasional glass of wine. We are happy Matt has decided to join our team and pick up the responsibilities of the Campus Vice President! It will be a great year with Matt on board.

Community Vice President

Alexandra Gilbert

When Alexandra walks across campus she is always listening to her ipod, which mostly consists of Linkin Park, Green Day, Incubus, Evanescence, and Lady Gaga. Her favorite movies are Nightmare Before Christmas and Kill Bill vol 1&2. Alexandra also loves any of the Batman movies, Spaceballs, Kung Fu Hustle, and Hero. She doesn’t really have a preference except for no romance books. She is an Environment Studies major so she is always working towards being green. Yay recycling! Alexandra is always up for volunteering and helping out in the community. She pretty much loves being a College Democrat because everyone is so awesome. We’re happy to have Alexandra on our team!

Secretary

Kate Arnold 

An International Studies, Political Science, and Islamic Studies major, Kate certainly keeps herself busy! So we are lucky and thrilled to have her on board for the next year of the UNO Democrats. Kate has a fond admiration for the tricky and complicated, yet beautiful and serene, Vuvuzela (but don’t confuse that for another word!). Kate is an avid reader and a movie aficionado, and always has something interesting to share at exec meetings. Kate is passionate and knowledgeable, and always contributes useful information at meetings. We are excited to have Kate as our secretary!

Treasurer:

Brittany Grabow 

The fabulous Brittany is a magnificent leader for our group. As a math major, she has helped salvage and organize the finances of our club. And YES, Mr. President, you CAN borrow her to help fix the broken economy-but we want her back! When she’s not helping out the organization, Brittany enjoys reading Jane Austen, telling stories, listening to music, singing, traveling, and watching movies. She has an incredible sense of humor, and she WILL make you laugh! She works for her parents as an Accounting/Administrative Assistant, where she stays busy making sure things run smoothly. Some of her favorite movies include Hot Fuzz, Becoming Jane, Shaun of the Dead, Atonement, and many others! She has read a plethora of extraordinary literature, and has great taste in music! As previously mentioned, she is a wonderful team member who is always willing to help out! We are lucky to have her as our Treasurer.

Technology Chair:

Sam Winner

Sam is a new member, and we’re excited he’s taking on the task of Technology Chair! Sam attended Metro for a while, but now he’s taking the UNO Campus by storm! He enjoys volunteering his time as well as the martial arts. He enjoys chess, reading, tennis, piano, history and computers. Some of his favorite bands are The Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, AC/DC, and the Wayseers. He enjoys watching The Office, Scrubs, The Simpons, Tosh.0, and Its Always Sunny in Philidelphia. We’re excited to work with Sam this year!

Campus Outreach Chair:

Jessica Jones

Jessica is new to the Exec Board this year, and we’re excited to have her on board! Jessica is originally from Missouri Valley, Iowa, and her favorite activities include saving people from the forces of evil and petting puppies (but who doesn’t love that, really?). Her favorite books include Harry Potter, A Million Little Pieces, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Searching for Alaska. Her favorite bands also include Plain White Tees, Adam and Andrew, The All-American Rejects, Black Eyed Peas, and 30 Seconds to Mars. We look forward to working with the wonderful Jessica Jones!
